Police update after alleged drug dealer arrested on main Sandown road

A man in his 20s has been released on bail, after he was stopped on a main Isle of Wight road and arrested on suspicion of drug dealing.

At around 4.15pm on Tuesday (January 30), Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary stopped a BMW travelling along Morton Road between Brading and Sandown.

Both the driver and the vehicle were searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, and suspected ‘Class A drugs’ were seized from the car, said police.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

The County Press has been told he has since been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
